How to sleep in residential neighborhoods
TL;DRBlend in with the parked cars, roll up after 8:30, covers on, stay dark and quiet.
Residential streets beat parking lots. They’re quieter, nobody patrols them, and a car parked among other cars reads as normal. Pick a calm block, park next to a wall or something green like a park or a school field, and arrive late enough that people are already inside for the night.
Picking the block
Look for a street with cars already parked on it, no posted overnight restrictions, and one side that isn’t a front window: a wall, a park, a school field, a church lot.
Timing
Arrive after 8:30, when people are inside. Leave by 7. You’re a parked car, not a camper.
Staying invisible
Window covers up before it gets dark. No interior lights, no phone glow through the glass, no doors opening and closing. Set everything up before you park.
If someone knocks
Be polite, say you’re resting before driving on, and move. It almost never happens if you follow the above.
